Formula 1 grands prix are set to become shorter from 2027, with the championship moving to a 290km maximum race distance across all events. That earlier expectation matters because it shows how the idea evolved. Instead, the decision has become universal. Every grand prix would be capped, meaning this is not a track-by-track tweak but a sport-wide redesign of the race format.
